Biology Distance Learning
Jacqueline Said:
I am planning to study GCSE biology with ICS (home distance learning), can I start the course anytime? ?We Answered:
Yes you can, however you have to register for your exams in March 2009 if you want to do them in June 2009 (check with ICS). So, I would start the course now if I were you, to allow me enough time to complete it by June and so that you may register for your exams on time.Kathryn Said:

I suggest you to continue your education at CalUniversity, which offers distance learning programs, admission’s counselors will make your education experience smoother and easier than you ever thought possible. You can take up any of the new courses among several Masters and Doctorate programs available.I just heard about an online contest - “California InterContinental University 2009 Scholarship Prize Essay Contest”. it’s about an essay writing contest and the winner gets prize money.

Should I take AP Biology distance learning AP Literature DL or Language DL?We Answered:
I recently completed an AP research project at the Graduate level for my Master's Degree. One thing that was interesting to learn is that a lot of the DL Sciences are not always acceptable or transferable as college credit. The reason is because all of the labs are done in theory on a computer, as opposed to being done in practice in a formal lab. There is a huge difference in dissecting a frog on the computer versus dissecting it in a lab in person. Colleges are leary of accepting some of the AP DL science courses because the student may never have been exposed to any lab. With that being said, I know that your options are limited to DL courses. What kind of learner are you? Are you more of a science, or a language person? What are your future plans geared for? For me personally, I am a language based person and would take Lit & Language in a heart beat over ANY science! But, your interests might include a future in Biology or the medical field. All AP courses have a high degree of challenge, so it is really up to you to determine which is easier to handle: science or language arts.
I might suggest making an appointment with your guidance counselor and discuss pros & cons about each course. Also visit www.thecollegeboard.com because this is the governing body over AP classes. You'll find a lot of info and study guides for all AP classes.
Good luck!

Are there any distance learning organisation that do GCSE Human Biology? We Answered:
No, I could not find one either. The last mention of a GCSE Human Biology course I could find among any of the distance education providers dated from 2007 and was dropped that same year.Edexcel do an equivalent IGCSE* in Human Biology. The only thing I can suggest is that you consider studying the syllabus independently and then, when you feel ready, entering yourself for the relevant exams. There is certainly no reason why you have to go through any sort of a 'learning organisation' in order to get a GCSE, IGCSE or any other schoolie qualification.
(Plus it'd be considerably cheaper to 'go it alone'. All you'd need pay for is the textbook (see below, approx £20) and your exam fees, currently £40 - £100 depending on the individual exam centre's policy.)
* IGCSE = International GCSE. It is no longer possible to do domestic GCSEs outside of school or college; the last exam session open to home educators & distance educators was the one just gone, June 2010. IGCSEs, also sometimes known as O Levels, are the exam favoured by a majority of private schools as well as now offered in place of the bog standard GCSE by all the UK's distance learning organisations. Furthermore the government plans to make IGCSEs available (finally!) to state schools from this September, something many state schools have been pushing for for years, so there's absolutely no reason to think an IGCSE is any less valid or less recognised than a bog standard GCSE. In fact the reason IGCSEs are being made available to state educated kids is so they can compete on an even playing field, in terms of the qualifications open to them, with kids from the UK's top private schools ( http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk… ). That, and the fact that it's widely held that the IGCSE is better preparation for further study.
