Distance Learning Associates Degrees

Maxine Said:

Is a certificate or any special training required to work as a veterinary assistant?

We Answered:

You do need training to be a vet tech, and the best way to go would be with an associate degree program. Do NOT do one of those programs that merely give you a certificate because those schools are usually scams. Go with an ACE accrediated school to make sure you'll get proper education. And you may not think you'll have time or money, but many schools work very closely with adult students in offering online or weekend classes, or classes at night. As for money, you can get financial aid through the school that will pay for everything, and you won't have to pay it back until you've graduated. You can do it. It's a lot easier than you think. And the rewards will last a lifetime.

Associates Degree while Active Enlisted?

We Answered:

easily done. between the college credits you earn for your military training, CLEP. and the Army College online, it is entirely doable. Of course, you already acknowledged the fact that a deployment would put everything on hold. You just need to focus and prioritize your self and your duties.

I attend college online at Ellis(part of NYIT). In nearly every class I have taken there has been at least one Active Duty servicemember. In fact one class, All Five Branches were represented!.

Ryan Said:

What is the easiest way to earn a bachelor degree with previous college credits from other institutions?

We Answered:

Any major university should be able to help you with this, you just need to decide where you want to go. When you apply to the university, you will need to submit all transcripts from other places to see what can get transferred. That's great that you have two associates degrees, and that should pretty much get you clear of 1st and 2nd year of a bachelor's, depending on the classes that you took and how they would apply to the major you choose. It's also good that you have some additional college credits; I hope they are 3rd or 4th year major classes - this will help. I seriously doubt that you will wind up with enough transfer credits to get you down to only 30 hours or so, plus most universities will have a minimum number of hours you must take at that university for them to be able to award you a degree - but this could be around the 30 to 45 credit hour mark.

Seriously, contact some advisors at the major universities closest to you. They should be able to help you and probably even guide you to a major that all your credits would apply to.

Good luck.

We Answered:

The Open College of the Arts is a distance learning independent arts college, based in Barnsley in South Yorkshire in the United Kingdom.

The OCA offers distance learning courses in the following areas: Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Textiles, Art History, Photography, Creative Writing, Garden Design, Interior Design, and Composing Music.

The Open College of the Arts offers a full BA Hons degree in Creative Arts, which I think must be what you are going to do. There are no entry requirements so you need not worry about how your existing qualifications will transfer, no attendance requirements as you study practical courses at home;no compulsory summer schools; no sit-down examinations
You can study from a wide range of creative subjects when you want and
enrol at any time of the year.

It has a network of some 300 tutors nationwide offering postal and face-to-face tuition.

Its original art and design courses became so popular that bigger premises became essential and in 1989 it moved to Barnsley, and introduced new subjects such as garden design, photography, creative writing and music.

The OCA is an open access college. No formal qualifications are required and there are no age limits. You can enrol at any time of the year. Since its inception it has enrolled more than 50,000 students worldwide.
