Therapeutic Boarding Schools exist in several areas throughout the country. Some are in clinical settings, adjacent to hospitals and are really more like treatment centers. The Turning Winds Academy stands above the others, since they also offer plenty of time outdoors and a community where every resident contributes, and each student is an active part of their own treatment.

California:

Cate School in Carpinteria - right by the beach! The campus is gorgeous.

Thacher School in Ojai - they have a horse program which is quite unique.

Stevenson School in Pebble Beach - if you love golf, you'd like the campus.

Webb School in Claremont - don't know much about it but I heard it's great.

Florida:

St. Andrew's School in Boca Raton - mostly day students so I wouldn't recommend it.

Also try St. George's School and Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island. I think they are both near beaches. St. George's campus is amazing... it's actually nicknamed "St. Gorgeous".

any type of school like this is going to be expensive--from 30,000 to 100,000/year

usually students are sent there by their school district when they can't be successful in the local school or a specialized day program

you can try contacting the state childrens services to see if they have any assistance

And be sure to VISIT, not just go by the internet
