Physical Therapy Online Schools

Byron Said:

Good online school for physical therapy?

We Answered:

There are no accredited online colleges for PT or PTA degree. The APTA admently does not endorse online education for the entry level PT or PTA degree. However, there is an online program for a PT technician/aide. However, for a $9-10 an hour job, it hardly seems worth is (especially since no formal training is required to become an aide).

Most PTA programs are available at the community college level, some at the university level.

All PT programs are at the graduate level culminating in a master's or doctorate level degree.

You can get a list of all the accredited PT and PTA programs in the US by going to the education section of the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org

Online Penn Foster Career School for Physical Therapy Aide?

We Answered:

Although its not necessarily a "scam," I hardly think it's worth it. You can become a PT aide (note: different from physical therapy assistant) without any formal experience.

for a $500-700 program for a job that pays a little above minimum wage, I wouldn't waste my money. Especially because aide/tech jobs are not that prevelant.

Looking to get a bachelors degree in Physical Therapy online?

We Answered:

PT is no longer a a BS degree. It is a graduate degree. It is not online. You need hands on skills to become a PT. There are weekend programs however. The list of accredited programs are listed on the APTA website.

Looking for opinions about getting bachelor's degree online then applying to physical therapy school.?

We Answered:

There are many schools that offer a degree online. The problem is you are going to need one year of the following from labs gen physics, gen chem, gen bio and A and PT, math possibly up to calc and stats. You probably have A and P from your PTA program but you will need chem, bio, and physics.

Talk to your professor of your PTA program. He or she may know of what is around you and what other students have done.

The PTA that work with us that have gone on to PTA (or in the process) schedule their courses in the evenings, and then the classes that are offered only during the day. They work opposite of that.

So the one PTA went to school MWF morning and TTH evening and worked MWF afternoon and then all day TTH untill her classes started. We do not work weekends but many facilities need therapists and assistants on the weekends or evenings. There are lots of possiblities. The local PTA school and the local DPT program have an unadvertised agreement for acceptance and they drop three of the classes for the PTAs who are working.
